Period.

I've never used him, but I see his name pop up on every forum I belong to when it comes to display calibration techs.
Not once have I heard a single bad thing about him. I believe Chicago is well within his travel area.

Ken Whitcomb is a very good ISF calibrator, too.  He's pretty active on AVS Forum.  He lives in Indianapolis, so CHI would be within reach.  He's calibrated for me, and I'm in Cleveland area (he visited as he came through during an East Coast trip).

Have you tried calibration yourself?

I've used Avia with good results.

If you are not satisfied with your results, then consider paying a pro.

How long does the calibration last before the settings change values and re-calibration is needed on modern televisions?

I've used Avia with good results.

A neighbor bought a 42" 1080 LCD, it's a Sanyo or Sharp (maybe part of the problem). I have a 36" Sony WEGA tube, old technology. I needed to replace my player so I bought a BluRay for when we upgrade. I've tried a couple a BluRay discs and the picture is a little better than a DVD on the Sony. He borrowed the discs and thought the picture on my CRT was better. I'd noticed talk of calibration here so I thought I'd check.
