I have heard plasmas before, but I didn't know they could go down to 150 - 200 Hz as this does  :o

It's discussed on this thread:

Hey!

Wow! :o Fascinating stuff. Make me want to make a pair.

I've only seen a smaller around.... the Ionic tweeter or something like that.  But this one is pretty big! :o

Look like a perfect speaker for a mad scientist's lab. :D

Take care,

I've apparently missed the reference to 150 - 200Hz, but if it's doable, I'd dearly *LOVE* to see Bob Smith build one for the Revelation Grand Masters.

A properly designed and implemented plasma tweeter must be experienced; I can scarcely imagine how amazing it would be to have one incorporated into one of Bob's designs.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of this in comparison to other designs?

the trouble is it would be off the scale in terms of impracticality and impracticability.

Conceivably, when Bob has made his fortune and can afford to sit back and relax, (like, in a few months!), he can amuse himself with designing a drop in replacement for the by-then-modular waveguide unit.

I don't think fire insurance investigators would look very approvingly upon a plasma unit in action, though!!
