hi guys. i have been trying to do some homework and learn more about OB type speaker desig and i felt like there were 2 distinct approaches to use:
the first one i'd call purely passive .
http://passivecrossovers.com/ by this i mean no active components in the circuit, resolving issues thru driver selection and compensationg in the passive xover itself. the jamo R909 is a great example of this. the site i posted a link to is a great resource to me. he does a good job of explanation vs. losing you in the math.
the other approach would be the active.
http://linkwitzlab.com/crossovers.htmdr linkwitz gave me a bigol' headache reading thru this. but i understand that if i buy a good digital eq/xover peice, i can do what he is talking about and then some.
so with this in mind what do y'all see as a good approach ? i kinda like a dash of both myself. using active on the low end is good to deal with room issues. in mym ind it's still complicated because OBis plain different than box speaker design. the room interactions change things. tell me what you think.
