FS: Anybody want my OB2X's?
« on: 19 Jun 2008, 03:43 pm »
I have way to many speakers in the house right now, and about 10 more projects planned ... so I need to clear a few out.  Just wondering if somebody local would like my Raw OB2X's for $600.  Pics and details on my build here:

http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?action=gallery;area=browse;album=1126

and here's pics of them from a get-together

http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?action=gallery;area=browse;album=1149

Before delivering them to a local buyer I'm going to build a nice plinth for them with some spiked feet.  They look pretty good, I did a decent job on the curly maple veneer with only a couple very minor flaws.  They sound good as well, and are very forgiving of room placement.  They're best with a sub crossed over at 60hz.

And I will deliver to anybody in the area, and help set them up if you want.  I can bring all my measurement gear to help you get the most out of them in your room.

Those are great speakers, especially for the give away price of $600!! :o  They have a very small foot print and are easy to reposition.  Apart from the LF's, I'd bet these would fair very well against the GR Research OB-5's...

Any local guys considering a new pair of speakers, I'll have a lot more to sell in the near future.  Looks like Tony will get this pair though ... then after RMAF I'm going to start ramping up to actually resemble a business

I actually have an A/V3 top section that I used for awhile, now it's just parts.  I could easily put that back together and make an OB-5 like system, probably with a side-firing 8" or 10" bass driver.  Cabinets for that would be a piece o' cake, and I have a ton of killer veneers to use.

Oh yeah John, I got those too  aa

I loved the ob's so much, I really wanted another ob speaker for a second room.  I had been considering these for a long time. I even pm'd "astronaut glen" a while back about his ob3's he posted on the raw board, but no answer. I was just weighing my options on where to go from here the last couple of days, and then these popped up - PERFECT timing.

What tweeter do yours have?  I assume yours have the regular M-130's for woofers, the x version does have a touch more detail ...

Ryan, I have just the standard ob-7 which has the BG neo3 pdr with the standard m130 woofers.

Here's a link to the pic of what I made with the gr research kit from the custom concepts flatpack -my first DIY speaker

John, THANKS -it was your enthusiasm for the ob5's you heard that really gave me that extra bit of confidence to go ahead with the ob7s. And now the same thing with the ob2x's as well.

These pair are a good deal for the taker who get them

Would be interesting in getting some input if you get the OB2X on how the ribbon Neo compare

Sure, I would be happy to.  Its going to be a while though. We are getting ready to move, and taking the time away for this little side trip, plus the time I am going to need to put together my new ob sub from Danny, already has the wife feeling a little testy!
