p8 bi-amping using xlr and rca preouts
« on: 3 May 2008, 09:19 pm »
Hi
I have bought a P8 preamplifier and will be using its 2 sets of pre outs to go into my MCH2-5 power for bi amping Proac D15. Is the XLR output better for the bass or tweeter or would it make no difference at all.

Splitting hair here..

Without any Scientific backing, my gut feeling is to use XLR for bass because of the separated ground returns.

Hi
Thanks for that. I will set up that way whenever p8 arrives.

hi there, one thing to check is to make sure that the output gain on the P8 is the same for both RCA and XLR.  Normally, XLR has more gain, like 6db...which will make a huge difference.

Hi
It says you can use both otputs together for bi amping not sure if they are gain matched or not maybe someone else could shed some light on it

P-8's XLR is not true XLR so the gain is the same as RCA.
