Would OB servo subs integrate with an N3? I'm liking what I read about the non-energizing of the room. That's exactly what I need.

I'm not sure what energizing the room means but with my little system and one x-sub the bass is all over the place in my room.  Would it be best to keep the x-sub and add another sub to even put the bass?   I don't really have room for the OB subs.  While I'm asking questions, I spend most of my time listening to music in my multipurpose room not sitting in the sweet spot but seated in front of my computer.  Would I be better off with the o3?  I could get the center about 24 inches from the walls...

That will even things out.

O-3's can be more transparent and create a larger listening field, but you will give up some output levels.

Just so I'm sure I understand, I could sit outside the sweet spot but they don't get quite as loud?

Like making stuff rattle or if you have sensitive eardrums making your ears ache.

Danny, haven't you said that getting the O3 closer to the wall than 36" starts compromising the sound.

Where are the speakers in relation to you when you are sitting at the desk?

Yeah, you need at least 3 feet from any wall.

In my experience w/ the X-Omni's and O-3's, 24" may or may not work, but you're good at 36".  You do also have to consider that the O-3's are reasonably deep speakers, so that also needs to be factored in to the distance from the walls.

The O-3's are the best off axis speaker I've heard, but they still sound better in the sweet spot.

I'm fairly well in line with the left speaker, about 10 feet away.  Not facing there direction though.  The funny thing is I remodeled this room (the basement) myself.  At the time I wasn't back into the music hobby so I did none of the things I could have to make the room work. :duh:.  Now I'm stuck with it.

Maybe I should do a nearfield set up?  I'm getting dizzy...

edit:  I thing I'm going to do the N3 and sit my arse in the right place...

That doesn't sound like too bad a spot as far as non ideal positions go.

Speaking of omni-directional speakers, I ran my AV-1RS as "mains" for a couple weeks when I was breaking in, that actually didn't sound too bad, although, I could kind of tell that the music was coming from up there.

I would do the N3 and see how you like its bass response before deciding on a subwoofer.

That sounds like a plan:  first the N3s then the sub...

For some utterly bizarre reason that reminds me of a line from Monty Python:  First the spanking then the oral sex! :green:
