i choose:
1. This music reminds me of our early days together
Always makes a gal melt and smile (and maybe she will... well... :)  )

4. But I don't have these ones yet!
Use this, yet hard to fully pull off when i have 10k qty of albums...

6. I don't complain about your shoes/handbags/lotions/etc.
NEVER say that to my wife. It encites a bad riot because, well, then she talks about my track expenses, the 8+ sets of tires i buy per year...

7. Get your bitch-ass back in the kitchen and bake me some pie! And bring me a beer while you're at it.
 :duh:

9. How about if I started collecting classic cars instead?
Been there per se as a restorer/tweaker. NEVER again  :nono:

11. It's a promo!
WE HAVE A WINNER!!! Of course being a reviewer i get away with this  aa

13. The rack isn't full yet.
Alas, it is OVERFLOWING

These days I just sneak them into the house when she isn't around.

The only problem is that she is astute enough to know when she hasn't heard something before, so when I play new albums around her she'll ask "Where did that come from?"  You'd think with several thousand CDs she wouldn't know when something was a new addition, but somehow she does!   :duh:

Id just say, “Honey, we could have sex???”
 :D :D

I use a similar but more pre-emptive approach:

"Honey, do you have time for some sex now or can I just go run some errands and buy a few CDs instead?"

Why do you guys have to make excuses to your wife for what to do with your own money? lol  I could see if you were putting some massive subwoofer in the living room and you want to get her on board with that, but for CDs???   :duh:

Sounds like you aren't married, because from the second you say "I do" it's no longer "your own" money.  Usually it's all hers, but even in the best case scenario it's "ours".

That is simultaneously impressive, depressive and hysterical.

My wife has never even batted an eye at me buying CDs.  I'm surprised it's a big issue for that many people.  I can see the equipment thing since it's often a lot of dollars in one purchase.  My wife seems to think it's a good hobby.  It's not that expensive, it doesn't mean I'm off somewhere all of the time (out of the house hobbies), it's not dangerous (like racing or skydiving), it's not illegal.  And sometimes she really likes the music I bring home.  Seems like a pretty good hobby in the big picture (assuming your overall spending is reasonable).

Of course, I'm rather financially conservative myself, so I'm not going crazy with it.

There's always one I COULD fall back on, if she ever did give me grief (which she never does) ...

I could be out at a bar on Wednesday's playing darts and drinking beer, or the bowling alley on Mondays drinking beer, or the track on Fridays losing money and drinking beer, or tailgating the game on Sunday drinking beer, or <insert vice and beer here>.

Enjoy,
Bob
