Another newbie in this circle

Hello to all Bryston enthusiasts!

I have been  following this great circle for about one year and a half and today I decided to join in.
Hifi is my passion but due to lack of free time I stayed out of it for about 15 years.
Finally last year after visiting a Hifi show I decided to come back!
Shortly after that the search for my next gear started.
There were many systems I heard including the biggest and most advertised brands.
However one system was the love at the first sight (or listening).
Thanks to a friendly dealer here in Zagreb (Croatia) who let me listen for hours to the following:
Audio Aero Capitole CD player
Bryston BP 26
Bryston 4B SST
Atlas cables
PMC OB 1
The decision was instant! That was it!
No other system was as clear, with such a rich bass and played loud so easily.
In the meantime I also heard PMC IB 1 and EB 1. They are bigger speakers and with more grunt
but the size of my listenig room is what bothered me (7,30x3,80x2,60m).
In November BCD 1 finally arrived to my dealer and this will make my all Bryston/PMC system.
Last week I confirmed my order and hopefully it will be delivered next month.
It is not cheap (20.000 USD) but it definitely is worth the money compared to other systems of this level!

I will keep on following this circle in the future and share views with you!

Best regards!  :D

Congratulations on a super system. You will get tremendous pride of ownership, and world class performance with the Bryston gear.
Yes, you have to choose the speakers that are right for your room, very important, but difficult sometimes.

Thanks for this nice welcome!

The OB1 are for the beginning.
When I see how they work in my room I will keep them or trade them in.
My friendly dealer gives me the option to trade them in for a bigger model if necessary.

All the best!

Yeah that's good equipment. You'll be one happy camper when you get everything up and running.
Every time I play my MC stereo, especially with good recordings. I am amazed by how good it sounds. I play my music at about 95 decibels to simulate the live concert feel. Like last night I was playing 'Tool- Laterals'. I bet most of you guys never heard how good hard rock music can sound on a MC stereo. Wow!
If hard rock sounds this good you know other genres will be awesome as well.
Money well wasted!

Predrag,

Based on my experience your room is not too small for larger PMC speakers, we are talking here about 24X12.5ft, with an average ceiling height, so provided you have proper room acoustics treatments (emphasis is on proper, too much of it is not good), OB1/IB1 should have no problems.
My room is 19X19ft with large openings into other rooms on two ends, of an unusual semi-circle shape.
In such space I have IB2 driven happily with 7B SST.
If you decide to go with bigger PMC, listen to IB2 if you can, there is some magic in that PMC midrange driver that is worth the extra $.
Since you have friendly dealer and you made him happy with your purchase, he should extend the friendliness and let you hear bigger PMC in your own room. :D

I'm a metal fanatic since high school and yes, hardrock, metal etc.. can sound very impressive on IB2's driven by 7B ST's as well!

Now playing: Death Angel - Act III

Welcome to the circle Predrag!

I share your concern for room size and the IB1/2's.

You room equates to 76 kubic metres, mine are in a 100 kubic metres room (connected to adjecent room of similar dimensions by big open sliding doors), and I tell you, these speakers can sound overpowering!  I feel my room is 'just' right, but should not be smaller!

Have fun, enjoy and don't waste too much!

Great systems guys...I make due with JBL Studio L890s, BP6P, and 4BSST pro. I have an Onkyo cd player and Technics turntable. Pretty cool system, and a great value. However, I wouldn't say they're in the area of the PMCs.

I can't afford PMCs!

Hello again!

After about 25 days of waiting my system has arrived.
Nicely packed with all the documents. It was delivered and connected by Bryston dealer here in Zagreb(Croatia).
First listening session was rather introduction than a serious listening. The guy from the dealership was trying to find best positioning for the speakers for about two or three hours.
The next day I listened for about three hours and the sound was considerably improving.
Yesterday evening with a lot of enthusiasm I wanted to start listening but nothing!
The MPS2 didn´t show any signs of life. Of course first thing I did was to call the dealer. It was 9,30PM and they were still there. Normally they are open untill 9 PM. The nice guy came immediately to my place across the city and brought MPS2 from their showroom.
He explained me that he had the same problem with his MPS2 and it was a fuse.
So he took my MPS2 and is going to return it for a day or two! We stayed listening untill 11,30PM!
Now James don´t get me wrong as I am not complaining. In fact this could be a sign of good luck!
My point is to say how good customer care I am enjoying here!
Your dealer Audio dream is doing a very fine job!
Still haven´t decided whether to keep OB 1 or change them for a bigger one IB 1 or EB 1.

Best regards to everyone! :icon_lol:

Hi Predrag,

I am sorry about the power supply fuse - it is the first I have heard of this - I will check into it.

The guys at Audio Dream are super and true dedicated audiophiles.

Hello James!

Yes, it was a fuse in MPS2.
Confirmed this morning by my dealer and problem is fixed!
Thanks for taking care!
