Thanks for the link.

I like the explanation for how to pronounce the speaker.  I've been wondering for a long time.  Of course, it was funny that the reviewer didn't spell it the same way twice.

"-The dual 5-inch mid-range woofers, teamed with the mid-range ribbon tweeter are obviously the key ingredients."

5.25" not 5" woofer. And 5.25" is a very common size woofer like 6.5" and 8"....

And it's not a midrange ribbon by a long shot. Who is this guy? hehe

well just for grins you can link to the reviewer to get a feel for their tastes.  As I told Danny, after looking at his bio, Nostalgic comes to mind.  Not exactly the kind of guy that gravitates toward a ribbon speaker in my mind.  Vintage gear dealer may be closer!!

I would like to see a real review of this speaker, with real electronics!

I love the comment at the bottom, where the EDITOR bumped up the scores of the review.  The main reviewer probably gave lower marks because he has a horn bias.  I've never seen an editor actually go in and change scores or other review parts before, so I bet a review from the editor would probably have been less biased and even more favorable to this speakers sterling qualities.

I read the review when it just came out.  I was wondering something got to go wrong!  With all the positive feedback heard here, either the units are damaged during shipping or something is different with the orginial reviewer's taste or ears!  :?

I almost hate to even say this, as I'm not looking to stir up controversy/rivalry, but I'd sure like to hear the results of a shootout between the Diluceo and the VMPS 626R.  The speakers share some similarities (eg, almost identical price, nearly the same size, both use dynamic & ribbons together).  As they both occupy the same niche and both are designs from well respected, high value, direct sales companies, I think a comparison is in order.

I posted some impressions of the 2 a while back.  Basically, I thought that the Dilucio's were more aesthetically pleasing and sounded great, and the 626r's were a bit more homely looking, but better performers.

Up to the point I heard the Excelarrays, the Dilucio's were the best ribbon tweeter/cone midrange I'd ever heard.

well a few of the Denver folks have heard both, but never with the same electronics in the same room.  I hate to admit this but Pez had a killer set up with the 626 ribbons and tubes which sounded fantastic.  His room and synergy with the speaker was spectacular.  I own the Diluceo's and love the ribbons and eton combination.  I would say the 626's are faster in the mids, have more bass, and when set up right, really get you into the music.  The Diluceo's are not made to play as low, but give a slightly warmer midrange with a killer tweeter.  They both need a sub.  Wayne has the latest 626 which is about double the Diluceo price, so for the bucks, the Diluceo does great, but maybe cannot get as low.  It's a little like tubes in that they both have a great sound, just different.  I truly believe that the room and right electronics helps.  Pez hit the nail with tubes and the 626, while I think the AVA Fet Valve combo helps the Diluceo stay quick and accurate, although I would love to hear them on some tube gear for grins.

brad, you gotta hear the new Radii tube monoblock amps wayne has - holy crap they sound good.  Made the (excellent) stereo tube amp sound like it was broken.  And did I mention the BASS?  They are pretty dang amazing.  I wonder how they would sound through the Dilucio's. . . .

Tyson I have been a good boy, saving my money so I can get my son through college, and you had to bring up the dang tube amps that are just calling my name, didn't you...

You know, it's been a whole six months since you changed amps, so I'm thinking those VMPS 40's need a good tube amp to keep the people in the park awake at night...

Brad,

I could bring over the digital amps I just built once they are broken in. I'd like to hear them driving your Diluceo's and see how they stack up against the FetValve.

(not completely off topic, I did mention the Diluceo's :))

Hi Everyone,

There are many good points made. The editing did indeed suffer due to my very busy schedule covering five shows in the past few months. Please accept my apologies accordingly.

Have made some light editing today and yes, did change the scores after i personally heard these jewels. As Mel Brooks says "It is good to be King." These loudspeakers seems to be a great value for the dollar and VERY fast and clean. In fact the kit price appears to be an incredible bargain! Thanks for your patience and understanding. Has been a very busy period and am looking forward to a more normal schedule for the next few months. Of course in the end what REALLY matters is that YOU...

Enjoy the Music,
