B-60R Question
« on: 15 Apr 2008, 09:03 pm »
Hi James:

I am looking at purchasing a B-60R that is about 9 years old.  Date code 9903.
It has four sets of RCA inputs as well as the tape loop jacks and the pre / power jacks with jumpers in situ.  No phono section is present.

Questions:
If used later as just a power amp is the gain the same as that in a 9B or 5BST using RCA connections?
Could this unit be upgraded to a have the DAC?
If so is it only a coaxial SPDIF input?

This unit would be for an office system.  Speakers would be nearfield Paradigm Studio Reference 20's (version 2) - "orphaned" from my HT setup.  At nights and when baby comes the headphone jack will be very useful.  I think the relatively small footprint is also a bonus.

Being in my office with my computer which is also my music server for the Squeezebox I would love to be able use a Bryston DAC.  While my computer has a coaxial SPDIF out, the ideal I think would be to use a USB connection.

So I guess this is another request for a USB input for the DAC option.  I think Bryston could do well with the B60DA in office / den systems where computer based music could be directly accessed.

thanks
Alex

Hi Alex,

If it is 9 years old it would be the ST version of the B60 not the SST.

Yes we can fit the DAC but it only has SPDIF (coax) in.

The poweramp section is 60 watts so it is the same as our 2B LP amplifier.
