Last weekend I had my SI T-amp along with me on a campout. A friend of mine was impressed by the sound around the campfire and asked me about my setup. I explained to him that the Mini Advent speakers I was using came from my dad's attic; the speaker wire came from Radio Shack as well as the double-male, mini-jack IC; the battery powered CD player from Wal-Mart; and the Sonic Impact amp from Think Geek was purchased for about $40. I further explained that I had minimally modded the SI amp by cutting the wire and connector off of a 12v walwart and had attached it to a 12v SLA 5 amp/hour battery.
I told my friend that I would get him a link to where he could purchase the SI T-amp. Durring this process I learned that SI no longer produces the first gen amp, but does make a 2nd generation model, which costs a bit more.
Sorry about the lead-up, but here's my question: Does anybody know if the 2nd gen. SI T-amp will accept power straight from a 12v SLA connection like the original does? Also, does anybody know if there is a similar chip amp out there that performs equally as well, but costs less than the SI Gen 2 amp?
