Lowest Voltage for Cornet2 RIAA caps
« on: 12 Mar 2008, 04:41 pm »
Jim,

How low in voltage can I go for the RIAA caps in the Cornet2? The cap positions are: C202LR & C204LR.

Reason I ask is that it is hard to find 630v polystyrene or silver mica caps. Can't find a 47000pF polystyrne at all.

Jim told me they can go down to as low as 250v.  I asked that question about some NOS Vitamin Q caps I found.  I actually had to buy four of each value 0.047uf (630v) and 0.001uf (400v).  If you are interested in these caps--since I only need two of each value, I can sell you the two extras that I have.  They are arriving from China, and hopefully will arrrive this week.

Just let me know,
Dan

marchewd, I'd like to say yes but I would rather go with the silver mica in the RIAA. I can get down to 1% tolerance. They come in 500v and that was what I wanted to make sure of.

Those Spragues are going to make for a very nice photo when you are finished. I would have used Vitamin Q's in other spots but I already have russian PIOs on the way and a Russian teflon to bypass the wax caps at output.
