Over the weekend I picked up some new tunes when I was at Best Buy. In particular I grabbed the latest Pat Metheny Trio disc called Day Trip with Christian McBride and Antonio Sanchez (great release BTW). Usually when I pick up some new music I'll go up the the musicians website and poke around, see whats new and check out the touring schedule to see if they are going to make it anywhere near St Louis.
As I was poking around the Pat Metheny website I see he added some new content. If you click on the Music and Media tab and then click on the Podcast menu, you'll find six or eight Podcast interviews with Pat and the various musicians (Christian, Antonio, Brad Mehldau and more) on several of his releases. The interviews go from a relatively quick 8 minutes all the way to 45 minutes long.
If you are a Pat Metheny fan, these are a must listen. The Podcasts (for those unaware) are nothing more than a standard MP3 file. You don't need anything special to play them other than speakers hooked up to your computer (or an iPod). Its a great way to get a little insight to some of your favorite music narrated directly by the musicians and composers. Myself, I'm an ardent Pat Metheny fan. He's probably my favorite jazz musician of all time.
I guess more than anything, I just wanted to let the other PM fans out there know these Podcasts were available.
That and I was curious if anybody had found any other "Podcasts" from different musicians out on the web? I always find it interesting to here the musicians talk in depth about their work.
