I use a pc and my wife uses a mac. She can open my Word documents, but I can't open her Appleworks .bin documents (I think that's what they're called). Is there any free software that will allow me to open her stuff and edit it if I need to? There are only a few that she has, but it would be very nice to have that capability. Thanks

HI, not sure if this will work but it is free.... You could try openoffice (www.Openoffice.org) and try to import and export.

Possibly someone has a more positive answer.

Good luck

I think you can save Appleworks documents in Word format. (look @ 'save as')

low.pfile

not very familiar with appleworks latest versions,  but the .bin is an archive file type(not appleworks specific) and typically I have seen .cwk filetype for native applework created text files. I wonder if the files you have are multimedia? on a mac .bin fines are "unstuffed" with

Since she still has her mac and appleworks she can export her docs into a more PC friendly format or save as PDF using the print dialog window.

I appreciate the replies. Her mac files are .cwk  If I try to change an existing document as .pdf, it will not allow that and does include the .cwk as well. My pc can't open "letter.cwk.pdf"  Can't figure it out so far, but will keep at it and check out the open office site again.
