The Randall museum class kicked off yesterday with a full house.
The pre looks like a winner too. If they put pictures of the finished product on the course description they would have a full house every round.
Great to meet you Kurt, I believe you had some of your friends there as well.
We will get pictures up, so this is not a complete waste of time for lurkers.

Yeah, baby!  I'm really excited about the class.  It's gonna be fun.

It was nice to meet you too, Bill.

Don't study too much this week.  :nono:

Kurt, I started rsearching those TFK ef806s's.
Not a cheap nos tube, but the service life is very promising.
Looking forward to comparing the pre with my Exemplar exception II....

Just got the exemplar and it will be a tough act to beat...
I thought this Saturday was a toss because of the tube audio club meeting?
I am so excited, I feel like I finally made the leap to being able to make pro looking solder joints, that chisel tip is awesome.

My preamp is finished and out of the box it sounds good.
The exemplar still has better inner detail and soundstaging but the Randall pre has a lot of new caps and some hohum sovtek tubes.
We'll give it some time to become more coherent.
I have to post a better picture, the copper plate I made for the top plate really dresses it up, IMHO.
