Dolby Pro Logic 2x

There`s a new kid on the block in digital processing circles. Dolby Labratories has announced an upgrade in their recently developed DPL2 called DPL2x that will take their "stereo to 5.1" conversion one step further to 7.1. This seems like the logical step to be taking as most home theater enthusiasts are now jumping on the Dolby Digital EX bandwagon that incorporates 2 rear channels to coincide with the 2 side surrounds for a more wrapped around soundfield. Dolby`s upgrade to their now popular DPL2 will allow the home theater enthesiast to utilize ALL their loudspeakers in upgrading CD`s and such from the depths of stereo to the clear blue  skies of how music was meant to be enjoyed. Purist THAT! Regards, Robin

Interesting.  I'm still getting by with "only" 5 speakers and two subs, though right now.  I'm anxious for someone to give it a try and report back.

There are already a handful of companies with upgradable components in the field ready to upgrade with DP2x including Marantz, Denon, and Meridian. I can only hope that Sunfire will join the bandwagon. The more speakers, the merrier. :drums: Regards, Robin

Hi,
Denon has already commited to this upgrade on it's 58 series and of course will be on it's new flagsjip coming out in January.

I have an upgraded 5800 with DPLII and will only be moving this 62 lb monster if there is much more than x offerred in the upgrade.
