New Future Owner of Extreme Monos!
« on: 27 Sep 2003, 05:53 am »
Hello all!

Some random thoughts and a couple of questions regarding my new system.

I have been following Klaus and the Odyssey products for a couple of years.  After giving up on many of the popular brands:  Rowland, Levinson, and Pass - I decided to pull the trigger on the Extreme Monos a while back.  I am a couple of weeks away from music.  Any predictions?

My mostly new rig:

Revel Ultima Studio (Heather Grey with Rosewood Panels)- Also Brand New
Odyssey Extreme Mono's (couple of weeks away from delivery)
Enlightened Audio Designs 8000 (1 year old)
Sony XA-777ES SACD - (New)
Pioneer Elite - DV37 DVD Player (works well with my Elite 530 HD RPTV)
Monster Power HTPS 7000 Signature (new)
Tranparent Audio - Music Link Plus Balanced Interconnects
Audioquest Coral Interconnects RCA

Still not sure what speaker cables to use????  I was using some Van den Hul - Not sure the model number with my old NHT 2.9s.  Gave the cable along with all my old NHT speakers to my Father.  He loved them and I knew I could not get my money back out of them- so what the he11.  I was considering these:

http://www.audioadvisor.com/store/productdetail.asp?sku=PSASTSB2&product_name=xStream%20Statement%20Speaker%20Cable%20-%20Biwire%20Pair

I have heard good things about the synergy with the Revels.

BTW, I sold my old Levinson No. 27 amp and my Classe CAV150 because neither had enough muscle for my speakers.  No amp = No music.  Only anticipation.

Any feedback is welcome.  I want to get everything ready for the delivery day of my new amps :D

Good system. My experience with both Odyssey stereos and monos is that they liked to be plugged directly to the wall; I don't know how the new MS conditioners work, but their older models were only good for the rest of my components. I also found that Groneberg (Odyssey) cords worked better with them than several other aftermarket cords I had. The extreme monos may behave differently too.

I have been told by Klaus that the Plitron Transformers did not come in when expected.  That is the cause for the delay of building my Xtreme Monos.

Let us all say a prayer to the Pliton (spelling ?) Transformer Gods.

I need music
