When I started listening to music it was with classical music and well over a third of my collection remains classical. Have you checked out "Swingle Singers" from the sixties. Ward Swingle led a vocal jazz group that had serious "chops" and he was also a fan of classical music. Match made in heaven, man.

I just listened to a sample of Claude Bolling's Suite for cello & jazz piano trio and just love it, its really nice.
