Help WMP and vista
« on: 13 Jan 2008, 02:43 am »
Guys this might not be the right forum but my WMP has all of a sudden decided to not play videos from websites. The following message comes up
Windows Media Player cannot find the file. If you are trying to play, burn, or sync an item that is in your library, the item might point to a file that has been moved, renamed, or deleted.
WTH? I have followed the sparse help info at Microsoft, proxy settings are on auto detect and all protocalls are checked- AFAIK there is no reason for it not to work. Can anyone help? Thanks

Not sure if this is the same problem I had at one time. I downloaded some extra codecs to fix my problem. It won't hurt to try. Here's one set of current codecs K-Lite Codec Pack 3.65 (Full)

How about try a different player like Gom Player. I rarely if ever use WMP. If I use it, it is normally the classic version..which plays everything under the sun.

No problem at all my friend! That Gom Player is a keeper..More features than any player I've seen so far.

pbrstreetgang,Open WMP,Try going to tools, options, player, player settings, check the box for Connect to the internet (overrides other commands).
This may work for you,I had the a similar problem with WMP 10 and checking this box solved the problem.
