My question for B or John c is this. Will the RM-30M's produce the slam and bottom end I get with the RM-1's (neo)? I haven't heard the RM-2's and some past posts talk about the diff between those 2 speakers but not the RM-1's.  I was just listening to Bowie and NIN doing "I'm afraid of Americans (V1) on his greatest hits CD, at oh-shit! levels and I just have to have that balls-on bass. It is absolutely a necessity for me. I have auditioned many speakers in the last 2 years and was working in Hi-Fi in the 80's. It is a rare speaker that sounds Hi-Fi-great at fairly loud levels but then kicks some serious ass when the amperage beast comes out. My little RM-1's may not be the cats meow of vmps but when I push them they deliver. I actually fear for the drivers, but when they don't blow, I put down the remote and I get a rush like no other. I listened to the RM-30's at Brians place but not in the beastly way. Everything else was great but I must know the answer on the bass. And NO, I cant use a sub. No sub that big is going in my wife's front room. Don't say it. She is sixteen years younger than me and she's hot. No sub!

Yes, the RM30M delivers the goods in the bass like the RM1, but with lower distortion!

Thanks B, I thought they would but with all this talk about subs it was worrying me. I was listening today and a bass synth went down and down until I couldn't hear it but my guts could feel it. It was great. Some past talk about the missing bottom octave didn't worry me until today. I bought a pair of used B&W 804's and they were nice but they just didn't rock. I bought the RM-1's and there it was. Not yet enough speaker for long term but a good start. I only rock hard 20% of the time but when I do, I need it loud, and I need real bass. My next speakers (RM-30M) will be in a larger room. Not a huge room but bigger. As you can tell I need plenty of reassurance. Thanks again.

I have a pair of RM30Ms and the bass is fine.  Better, in fact, than what I was getting from a REL Strata 3 which I promptly gave to my spousal unit for the HT.  Very fast and the tonal balance is outstanding.

MCA heard both the RM-30's and RM2's. He didn't think the bass of the 30's could compete with the RM2's. I'm not sure how different the RM1's from the 2's.

If you can swing the price of the ticket, the RM40jr is your ride.  I think there may be a couple pair of the Cherry left at $2999.

I just picked up my pair for my HT, and anyone who misses this deal is missing a huge AUDIO bargain.

And they will play LOUD, Distortion FREE, and with BASS that will Rock your World.

Now if that cannot be "wedged" into your room, the RM2 will certainly provide the lowest bass response, but the extra NeoPanel of the RM30 makes it a slightly "cleaner" speaker at higher levels.

The bass of any speaker VMPS or not will only be as good as your room will allow and support.

With the RM40 you will be in the low 20's

With the RM2 in the low 20's

With the RM30 in the low 30's

I think the RM1 is also in the low 30's but as Brian said, the bass distortion in the RM30 would be less.

The RM-40's will dominate my room, cant do the look but I would love the sound I'm sure. The 30's are just flat out beautiful with the wave guides on and I need that in this room. Artful looks are very important to me. I'm building my own electronics cabinet because I can't find anything I like commercially. I don't need 16hz, I just need great, tight bass. My good friend is a bass player. Nuff said. Thanks.
