Can dvd-a disc be played on a PC's with a dvd drive?

The DVD-A itself won't (you lose the Meridan Lossless Packing/MLP)...but most DVD-A's will play as a DVD(-V) on standalone DVD players, even.

However, for about US$30/$40, you can download DVD-A software for playback and recording purposes (if your DVD drive can also burn DVD's).  Just Google DVD-A software - several should come up that way  :)

I know some folks that record their vinyl to DVD-A this way......CD just doesn't capture enough; no matter if it's Lossless or not.  They are happy with the DVD-A recordings, however.

Thanks.  Just what I was looking for.  Finally getting around to building my music server.  Now to find a dac i like and afford.

??  Wait, not true at all!!  Creative Labs Audigy 2 sound cards will play DVD-Audio on a pc....mine does and has been for a few years...in 5.1 surround.  Full MLP decoding.
