VMPS and McIntosh
« on: 2 Dec 2007, 09:47 pm »
I have a customer who owns RM2 FST/Auricaps who would like to hear about experiences, good or bad, of matching VMPS with McIntosh preamplifiers, integrated and power amplifiers. Experimenting is somewhat difficult here, so every experience is useful for getting some directions and narrower choice.
Thanks to all.

I recently set up a customer with an all McIntosh system with RM30's and LRC with excellent results.  The sound was warm and natural, with excellent depth.  I don't see how your owner could go wrong.

dubravko,

About 3-4 years ago, I had a guy loan me a mid-priced McIntosh stereo power amp (solid state).  It was a few years old at that time, and I think it had ~160wpc.  Note that I own RM40s.

I thought it sounded very good - I was impressed.

Thank you Brian and Kevin,
I'll pass your comments, it seems well worth trying.

Well, last year for hollidays I was connect MA6400  to with
my RM30. Describe of sound : deep bass, wide soundstage, good presence and lot of details. This is ok, but I think that   for models like RM2 or RM30/40 is combination preamp an power amp like MC352 ! Thats may opinion.

Mac and VMPS are a very good match. Warm, deep bass, music can be played at live levels.

I have a pair of Super Tower IIIs powered by MC602 (600x2) or MC2300 (300x2)  :thumb:
