Sites for selling audio gear? Europe/Asia/Australia
« on: 15 Sep 2003, 05:09 am »
Hi.  I was wondering if anyone could recommend internet sites for selling audio gear.  I am particularly interested in targeting Asia, Australia and Europe (e.g. places that use 220/240v).  I am trying to sell my Cary 303 cd player, which is 220/240v.

I have had a lot of good luck selling cables on www.audiogon.com but I have a feeling that most of its visitors are from the U.S./Canada (which use 110v).

Thanks a lot.

Hi Jay,

There are a couple of Hong Kong forums you could try:
http://www.avbuzz.com/bbs/hand/list.php
http://www.review33.com/2ndhand/

They're both mainly Chinese-language sites, but registration is fairly straightforward (in English), so you shouldn't have a problem.

Or you could try posting at the main AVBuzz page for advice on where to sell: http://www.avbuzz.com/bbs/av/list.php?start=0

Its a bit of a long shot, but you could also try a UK forum:
http://www.avforums.com/frame.html?[url

Cheers,

Pete

Thanks very much, Pete.  I've got an auction on audiogon right now, with 2 bids so far.  It it ends below my reserve price I'll post more classified ads.

Cheers,

Hi Jay, you could try:

www.ebay.co.uk
www.ebay.de
Both UK and Germany have a serious audiophile scene.

In NL there are also:

www.hear.nl
www.hifi.nl
www.marktplaats.nl
As these are all in dutch, posting there might be difficult for you.

Good luck.

Jay,

Have you looked at doing a Yahoo Auction?

I've been to Yahoo Japan many times (and found a few things I'd love to get, but no one that ships out of Japan). I don't know what other regions that Yahoo runs auctions in. Should at least be worth a look if your A'gon auction doesn't hit reserve.

Not a great deal on offer here in Australia. A lot of gear seems to get sold privately through local trading newspapers. Best bet is http://pages.ebay.com.au/index.html
I look around at the local dealers - a couple of interesting ones
http://www.internationalsound-au.com/
http://www.audioconnection.com.au/trade.asp
New Zealand seems to have an active hifi scene and the prices seem attractive. Have a look at
http://www.audioenz.co.nz/cgi-bin/classifieds/classifieds.cgi
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the suggestions!  I have just opened up an auction on ebay UK as they seemed to have the most audio gear for sale.  The listing should be available to ebay customers in other parts of the world as well.  I hope this auction turns out well!

For Great Britain have a look at

http://www.audiophilecandy.com/home.asp

and go their free-ads section, or go straight to

http://www.adverts.hififorsale.com/home.asp

there is lots of hifi equipment for sale there. Good luck.
