My friend has a few Macs and recently bought a Toshiba to have a 100% Windows machine for software development for work. Now he regrets it because he has to get it repaired, and it is a 4 business day turnaround. He is without his laptop for 4+ days. He feels that if he had gotten the Macbook Pro he could have taken it to the genius bar for repair, and walked out with a repaired laptop or a loaner. So to him the extra money would have been worth it.

I want an ultralight laptop so I will probably wait awhile to see what will come out next year. Meanwhile I am building a new quad-core PC with 4GB RAM to be my server/media processor.

Apple have excellent customer service and support.  Here in New York, we have an Apple store in Fifth avenue that is open 24/7.  Woohoo!  I wonder what one would do in a MacStore 3AM in the morning.  Hmmm...

Speaking of ultra light weight, I use a Dell Latitude X1 for work.  A mere 2 lbs with 6+hrs of run time, making my MacBook Pro heavy.

Are they open 24/7? Apple store in Fifth avenue never closes it's doors.  They are always open. :)

No....not 24 hours a day....its a shopping mall. With Xmas shopping I'm sure they are open later at night.

Ok.  Just bought iLife '08 suite.  iLife '08 includes an upgrade to iPhoto '06 which I really like.   I will be using iPhoto extensively with my photos.  Gee Nikon just released their full-frame D3.  It is onsale now at BHPhoto $5K!

It supposed to be the biggest Apple Store.  3 floors.

I still like the Apple store in 5th Avenue which is open 24hours 7 days a week.
