Capacitors in a vacuum press
« on: 27 Nov 2007, 04:45 am »
Stupid question for the experts.... I have semi permanently mounted my crossovers into some DIY speaker cabinets. I want to use a vacuum press to apply veneer. The press is adjustable....Am I in any danger of destroying my caps? (I didn't know where to even put this question.) :duh:

What kind of caps are you talking about? If you're talking the usual polypropylene caps, I can't imagine how those would be adversely affected. However, if you're talking oil filled caps, I'd be reluctant to subject those to too many inches of vacuum. They'd probably be fine, but any weakness in seams or sealing would be stressed by that treatment.
