Hook-up wire

What do you feel is the ultimate internal hook-up wire to use on the high and low pass with your designs, specifically the 3-way you designed for me and why?

Thanks
Chris

I'm not that tweaky about wire and usually suggest a multistranded cable with a PVC jacket. Some wires should be avoided - those that are stiff and that can stress the terminals. There are also others that result in cold solder joints unless you have a solder pot.

I am like Rick and not that tweaky, but I like the Apex Jr wire which is silver plated copper with teflon insulation.  It solders really well.  I'd suggest the stranded version (default version).  The thicker gauges are moderately stiff, which I find nice for speakers since it won't flap around inside the cabinet and stay where you put it.   I don't think it is so bad as to put strain on the terminals.

Thanks guys.  I was not sure if I should take into consideration resistance, capacitance, inductance & impedance in my selection of internal wiring.  It's kinda a one shot deal once the cabinets are closed up.

Most standard wire will have good numbers and be perfectly acceptable, especially considering the short runs involved. When you get into exotic cables some can be capacitive or have higher inductance.

I have used Cardas and Harmonic Technology for hookup wire in the past. I'm not crazy about the way the Cardas solders as it is more work than others, but I do enjoy working with it otherwise. It's very ductile and is available in many colors as well as gauges.

I've decided to use Groneberg Quattro for my hook-up wire along with matched IC's, PC and speaker cables.   This is also the same connection wire used inside my amps and preamp.

FWIW, in my previous system I was clearly able to discern a difference in the treble when switching between a pair of Cryotweak Silver wires vs. copper Groneberg Quattro's hung on a pair of SP Tech Timepiece 2.1's.
