Vote for your Nuforce mini-amp and S-1 speaker
« on: 22 Oct 2007, 09:48 am »
Please comment on the shape and finishing for the Nuforce Mini-amp and S-1 speaker.

Q1. Do you prefer rounded or rectangular S-1 cabinet?  The rounded S-1 will have no grill but can be in wood or blacksand pattern as shown in the rectangular cabinet.

Q2. Do you prefer the wood or blacksand pattern?

We plan to make 3 different finishing: wood, blacksand and a very light wood.
We decided not to offer high-gross paint finishing due to high cost and environment concern (this process uses a lot of toxic chemical).

We have high confident that this desktop set will be the best sounding set on the market due to a lot of customized design with a Nuforce integrated IC, cross-over network and speaker driver (it is not off-the-shelf).

We'll show them at CES 2008 with target production shipping date in Feb 2008.

I would agree, rounded black edges; any price estimate on this setup yet?

Rounded.. looks good! Silver amp The grills are not nice imo. How about a partial grill that goes a little past the speaker and rounded on bottom

We're aiming for less than $400 retail for the whole set.

I agree with those above about the speakers...rounded/black looks great!! As for the mini-amp, I notice that some examples have two dials and others have one...do these represent different options? In any event, the example at the very top/right (silver with black faceplate) looks the best to me.

I like the wood finish in either shape.  I'm more interested in the amp than the speakers though.

Certainly both of them are nice pieces of design.  What's the width of the drivers?  Transmission line presumably?

Incidentally, how are you distributing these in the UK?  How do I buy one?

I vote for the rounded black.  Will this have more than one input on the integrated amp?

I vote for the rounded black too. But I would like them even better if they had removable grills too (round ones).

Our worldwide distributors will handle the distribution. If not, you can order direct from our online store.

black and round, but with black casework on the amp and plinth or base for the amp.

I appreciate it when a manufacturer takes the trouble to make the product look good - and these look good!

For the amps, I actually prefer the alternative colours rather than black boxes.

How would it look with both the speakers and the amp being silver on the sides and black on the front, with the speaker stand being silver (with the speakers being the rounded corners version).

Breaking news from Casey who just evaluated the mini amp at the factory:
The mini amp is VERY GOOD, sounded like a mini SE. Wow!  We are going to demo the mini amp and S-1 speaker at CES, amount other things. We are still tweaking the system and looks like this is going to be anther breakthrough product from Nuforce.  This $399 (current estimate price) set should outperform anything under $3K on the market.

This mini amp can be used to drive many bookshelf/desktop speakers, even though it only has a rated 12W per channel (it is surprisingly powerful). Est. MSRP $199.
