FS: Bruce Moore Companion One B

This is upgraded Companion One to a One B (or IB if you will). Identical to IIB but without the fancier faceplate. I spoke with Bob Bergner who is the distributor of Moore gear. He sez that this design is an improvement on Moore's AA Modulus design FWIW. He does sell them but he does so on the side and his first income is from being a materials engineer. An all-around awesome guy to talk to, BTW. Def not a salesman. He's a no-BS audiophile and is still keeping it real. He will still upgrade the unit further if you want for a reasonable fee (~$300 I think).

Anywhoo, I'm selling since I don't like the impedance match with my Pass Aleph 5. Otherwise, it's a crazy-good tubed pre for the money. Almost a dual mono deisgn in that each tube handles the gain and output separately. Can't believe more tube heads don't love the Moore gear.

$400 plus shipping. For extra $125 will throw in NOS Philips/Amperex mid-60s gold pin SQ Holland E88CC, balanced w/ matched date codes (really). These go for far more from dealers on A'gon or Ebay. I bought them NOS and used them for maybe 15-20 hours. Will offer a return policy on the tubes.

3% PayPal for credit card payments (none for bank transfer).  Will email pics to serious inquiries. Thanks all!

I've dropped the price on this to $400. What is with the market these days?

That's cuz most folks don't realize that Bruce does an amazing job when it comes to serving the music. Bruce's stuff is very nearly the ONLY gear I will tolerate in a system I own and design by. I'd buy this in a heartbeat, if I needed a pre. Many folks say things like 'newer gear eclipse's Bruce Moore designed MFA gear' and such. Ok. so the parts and chassis are 20 years old now. That is to be expected.

I could get long winded on this but suffice to to say, that in my opinion, an alarmingly large number of folks have no clue how music is supposed to sound when it is being attempted to 'reproduce' it via electronics in our homes and/or studios. And they end up with gear that emphasizes aspects of the reproduction in a false way. And Bruce's gear is quite low in coloration concerning actual Musical representation of the original signal. 'Nuff said.

This is the same unit that is on audiogon, yes?
