placing felt on front baffle to combat diffraction

Hi everyone,
I recently made a wool felt surround ring (with a star shape to it, copied from Dunlavy) for the tweeter on my ACI Alpha's, and am very happy with the result.  A touch of sibilance has been removed and the imaging is significantly improved.  The question I have now is, would it further improve things to place a 1" wide or so strip of wool felt (1/2" thickness felt) along the outside of the MTM portion of my Alphas to eliminate edge diffraction from the midranges, or would it be even better to build surrounds for each of the midranges so there is no diffraction at all?  The Alphas are towers with two woofers near the floor and an MTM array near the top, offset towards the inner edge of the tower in mirror images so that the MTM drivers are placed towarrds the center of the listening position (one of them appears in my icon).  My concern with putting felt and stopping diffraction is that some speakers and their crossovers are designed counting on the added reinforcement of the baffle, and would thus sound much worse with the felt and the "removal" of the front baffle.  I don't know whether ACI designs speakers like this or not.  Any thoughts from Mike or anyone who has experimented with something like this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Chris

Hi Sonny
I ordered it from McMaster Carr; it is catalog #87415K17 Extra-Soft Gray F13 Felt Sheet 1/2" Thick, 12"x12" plain backed.  It was a beast to cut it without fraying, but a brand new X-acto did the job pretty well.  They sell it in all different thicknesses with or without adhesive backing.  Unfortunately, the 1/2" thickness I needed to fill the region aroiund my tweeter is not offered with adhesive backing.  The price is hard to beat also; the 12x12 sheet was around $7.50, and is enough to make 4 of the rings I needed.
