Strange - my AVP-16 preamplifier has started to recognize every DD5.1 soundtrack as a DD EX soundtrack. Ie. display shows constantly DDEX. Even if I switch mode back to "digital" that text comes back. Any ideas? Should I be worried about that?

Same thing with the AVP17 - I think its a bug, since I just figured out that I have to go through the whole setup menu in order to select processing mode.

It would be nice if they had BYPASS on 5.1..... can this be done via a firmware upgrade?????

I didn't notice this and this is the first time we have heard about it. Can you try to do a software reset (from the setup menu) to factory default? That might fix the problem.  I will check with engineering and get back on this.

It doesn't work that way. The BYPASS bypass all A/V decoding.  The sub output in bypass mode (available only in AVP-17) is generated separately.
