FS: Dynaco A-25 drivers.
« on: 27 May 2007, 04:44 pm »
All of these drivers are working fine. I tested them hooked up to a receiver but not in speaker cabinets, using caps on tweeters. Sounded fine. Another project I won't get to.

Four Dynaco A-25 woofers - all are SEAS model 25 TV-EW and made in 1970-71, 8 ohm. Cast frames, Alnico magnets, rubber surrounds. All in good condition. A few light marks/dots on cones. No rips, tears, punctures etc. Working fine.
Two Dynaco A-25 tweeters. SEAS 1 1/2" dome, stock mesh grilles. Labeled: "Type dome 87 H". "4-8 ohm".

No crossover parts. No cabinets:

My plan was to make MTM cabinets for these drivers and use in the shop with a Sony receiver.
Why MTM's? Because these woofers have paper voice coil formers that would burn out when played loudly into distortion (common style of the day). Using two per side would help avoid damaging them, and be fun.
The standard cabinets were ~23 liters (single woofer), and aperiodic loaded. I was going to double the volume for the MTM's (maybe a bit more) and use one Scanspeak aperiodic vent per cabinet. The stock crossover had nothing on woofer and 5 uF cap on tweeter and a switch for different resistor values to dial in tweeter level. I was going to use nice (Solen or better) caps and good Mills resistors (finding the value I wanted).
Selling as a group for $150. Plus shipping from zip code 95521 usa. Paypal preferred, I'll absorb fees. I hate this but only usa sale as shipping problems overseas are nightmares. Sorry.

I know you would like to see them but I don't have a camera for pics, sorry. Am placing ad anyway as it would take me a while to arrange for pics.

Thanks, Don

These Dynaco drivers are still available (I've been away from audio for several months).
