Is the BG Neo mid/tweeter in the LS6,9 the same planar magnetic driver that VMPS uses in its speakers?
Thanks,
Bill

No, VMPS used to use a modified Sonigistix /Eminent Technology planar. I think they're currently using a custom driver based on the old driver.

Yea the LS-6 and 9 use a custom version of the Neo 8 from BG.

I had them make an 8 ohm diaphragm.

They then used a heavier than normal felt on the two outer rows similar to the pdr technology. The back is open though with no additional felt.

All five rows of magnets are used just like the standard version. The pdr version drops to three rows of magnets.

This gave the best off axis response, kept up sensitivity, and kept the impedance high. It also has a smoother response across the board than either of the two production units.

I am real happy with the way it turned out.

The Sonigistics panel actually comes from Eastech. Good utilization of it can be seen in the Mini Strata offered by AV123. They won a couple of awards this year including 2007 Best Value Speaker of the Year award from StereoMojo, and a Best of 2007 award at Enjoy the Music.
