A small suggestion: if one is a situation where there is no digital signal coming in on the currently selected input, but there
is
a digital signal coming in on a different input, could the SP1.7 be made to switch inputs automatically?

Hi nicolasb,
Because the SP1.7 has totally different circuit paths for each input it would mean a circuit board layout change.
In fact we found that we have to have completely different circuit paths and power transformers for the digital and analogue signals because the noise floor on the analogue is affected by the digital.
If I can make a point here - recognize that most of the "options" or "features" that some customers want are not availabloe on the SP1.7 because the design goal was - build a state of the art 7.1 preamp that did not compromize sound quality.

This thread was getting long and difficult to follow because it contained information on too many sub-topics. The last posts to this thread were about enhancements to bass management so I moved the appropriate posts to a new thread "Enhancments to Bass Management in SP-1.7".
