ExpressCard sound cards...
« on: 23 Sep 2007, 05:08 pm »
I'm getting a new laptop so a pmcia soundcard does look like a nice option for that one.
Has anyone tried say Echo IO ? How is that one?

Edit: Wow! Ok, a little stunned here! The is no pcmcia slot on my new Asus laptop, its something new...
called express card... OI?

I used to have an Echo Indigo IO - it's quite good, but make sure you don't put too much force on the plugs in the jacks.  I managed to short one out, but they replaced it under warranty.  The built-in output jack worked quite well with even relatively demanding headphones like the HD-600.

Hm... after a little search on-line I find that this new standard for laptop cards has pretty much sneaked up on people almost
without notice...
Hm, it seems I have to look for either a adapter or wait for something in the express card line of things to emerge!

So, here goes, does anyone know if there is any expresscard sound card out there worth looking at?

Edit: OK, a life saver for pcmcia card owners has evidently been made!
Nice!
Does anyone have this adapter? Will it work flawlessly with say the Echo?

Ah yes, ExpressCard notebooks definitely got out ahead of most ExpressCard products.  I don't have any experience with converters, so I can't help much on that end.
