It's more principle than pride but I will probably be using them soon nonetheless. I've decided to upgrade my speakers. I'll run them here first but at $7500 the're not likely to move through this channel either.

Hi Macrojack,

have you sold the Zyx yet?..

I'm very new to this forum...and have been amused at this thread...

...and then again, am quite interested in the Zyx. Is more than I wanted to pay for a cartridge at this point?

If so, what else do you have?

Please keep me chuckling

Snowy2007 - Catchy name. Is it a weather prediction?

I still have my ZYX but I promise that, if and when I sell it, there will be jubilant proclamations asserting as much. Til then, it's groveling before the almighty in the hope that he sees fit to send a buyer to this poor sinner.

Meanwhile, let's focus on your query. What amount are you prepared to disburse for a phono cartridge? And, if you really want my ZYX, what have you to trade? You never know when I might do something stupid. I've surprised myself more than once.

I ran this ad with the express intention of selling my phono cartridge. Something in the wording must have led certain individuals to believe that I was soliciting information about their financial inadequacies. Numerous reports have reached me with wording like, "I only have _____ dollars. I know you wanted more but ..........".

While I probably do have a voyeuristic streak, I don't really care to be privy to anyone's intimate financial facts. All I care about is whether or not your check clears.

Keep those offers coming but keep them reasonable.

Oh Dear Macrojack, that's disappointing.

I hope you're not too down-hearted over the Benz deal. If you have not traded for the Micro 2 and still have the Zyx, let me know what your need is and I can either trade bits or save a bit more dosh. Additionally, how much would be the postage to the UK?

Your other offers may seem to be low... but it could be the cartridge is 300 hours or so old?

Cheers, Snowy

macrojack / Tom,

This topic almost qualifies as a sticky....only not sure if it would be held out as a prime example how to or how NOT to sell your item on AudioCircle

Either way, it's gotta' be the most amusing ad in memory :!:

Yup!! I still have the ZYX and if Zu doesn't come through with my Denon mod soon I'll be using the bloody thing again.

The only reason for selling is I'm not using it and I want to give the money to Vinnie Rossi. Aside from some dust it looks just like it did when I took it out of the box. Bellissimo.

What's a sticky?

Anybody out there want a deal on a Grado? I have new in box Red, Green, Black and Blue. Will sell for half of list to AC members. Quantities limited, very limited. You pay postage.

Also have a Klyne SK2a moving coil step up. One of the best. Paired with a Bellari it delivers very sophisticated high gain for reasonable money. Adjustable gain and a high frequency contour. Surely you know the Klyne reputation. Stan Klyne has made nothing but preamps and phono pres for thirty odd years. They're all solid state and all state of the art. $695.

There's more. Watch this space as the closet empties for deals! deals! deals!!!

A sticky is a permanent post in a particular circle...if you look at many of the circles here at AC, they have stickies.  That is, they don't fall to the bottom of the pile over time - they are continually at the top of the circle headings.

For instance, you can see there are 12 'stickies' in Town Square: http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?board=2.0

They are usually made for instruction purposes.  So, I still can't tell whether your ad qualifies as a 'how to' or 'how not to' sell here on AudioCircle   But, it is goddarn amusing  :thumb:

Chair Guy - Love to see my ad enshrined as a sticky but I'm actually having a good time with the "bump" process and I fear that if you give it permanent status I may grow complacent and lose my creative edge.

Perhaps we can leave that question open for the time being. And whether or not the cartridge sells could certainly provide a determination as to which pole it represents, either how to or how not to. Then again, why not just hang it up there as a work of art and let the viewer determine for himself what it represents?
After all psychology is an inexact science. Different messages reach people in different ways especially if the people are different, like our membership might be said to be maybe.

Woodsyi - Are you still watching? If you buy this thing, I'll throw in a Grado Green for your wife. And a Tom Waits Anthology album. I might even let you in on who's going to win the World Series.

Just a little reminder ----------- your ZYX is ready to ship. Operators are standing by. Just one little monthly payment of $950 OBO and this little beauty could be singing to you for years to come. First come, first served. Limited supply. Get in while you can.

Hey, you're looking good. Have you lost some weight? How's the golf game? Say hi to the little lady for me.
Did you ever get your analog syatem sounding right? Still having a little problem with restricted dynamics and excess cash flow? Well I believe I just saw the answer to both problems over on Audio Circle. You didn't know they had a classified section? Well they do. It's called The Trading Post. If you click on that and go to "Sources", you'll see an ad struggling to remain at the top of the list. This guy has an R-1000 Airy in excellent condition for only $950. Yup, I know. That thing was $3000 new and it is widely heralded as one of the more detailed, honest and dynamic cartridges available. I'd get in touch with him and grab that beauty before somebody else does if I were you. They don't appear on the used market very often.

Mines are sounding ok.  I seem to have excess dynamics but with restricted cash flow.

Woodsyi - Taking this and your other recent posts into consideration I have to suggest that your life outdoors is better than what you are experiencing indoors. Better forget audio and keep swinging your clubs and throwing sticks. Send me a seashell.

I have to admit you're a gritty bunch, the way you keep toughing it out with some pedestrian, run of the mill, slightly above average phono cartridge, when ZYX bliss harkens less than a grand away. Stubborn - that's what you are.

Overdue bump.

I put this cartridge back in my table and I have to say it still excels.

Chair Guy - The market has spoken. I believe I have established a new standard for how not to sell a cartridge. If you decide to sticky this effort be sure to hang it in the Hall of Shame. At least I didn't cheat. Do you need a blood sample?
