Startup and shutdown procedures
« on: 8 Apr 2008, 05:10 pm »
 :duh:
Hi
I know 99.99% will think I am thick . I am buying P8 pre for my naimcd5i, MCH 2-5 power and proc D15 speakers. I will be using the ht bypass using Yamaha 4600. Can you give me correct way to turn on all this equipment and turn it off. I don't want to damage anything so I would rather look a fool now rather than a bigger one later.
Thanks

Hi,
As a rule-of-thumb, always turn on the smallest signal component first:  (1) CD or DVD player, follows by (2) preamp/processor, follows by (3) power amp.

With P8, as long as the AC power cable is connected and the AC switch on the back turned ON, just use the remote to turn it on and off.  There should be no popping sound at all.

Hi Casey,

Would you recommend that I leave my MCH3SE on standby mode at all times instead of turning the unit off completely WHEN NOT IN USE?  I have been putting it on standby mode and just turning on the channels appropriate for each use (i.e. Channels 1 & 7 on for 2 channel stereo, and all channels, 1-7 on for HT application).  Please advise if this is good procedure for best sound and reliability or any other recommendation you may have.

Regards,

Kenobi
