I have finally decided to sell my early 70s vintage Teac 7-1/2" open reel deck. I haven't used the deck in 3 or 4 years but last time I used it it functioned perfectly. It could use some cleaning and lubrication, and the wood (real, honest-to-goodness walnut) case could use some cleaning and treatment with something like wood doctor or Freeman's polish. The bulb in one of the VU meters is broken but I have two original replacements (not the kind of thing yu can just pick up at the local hardware store), and I have a professionally reproduced and bound service manual for it.
These were workhorse decks in the 70s and were used in many small studios as well as homes. It has microphone inputs on the front and separate head out and preamp in connections on the back, so if you wanted to build a nice tube head pre for it, you could do that without having to do major surgery on it. This is a beast and weighs nearly 55 pounds but is fairly compact for an open reel deck.
I was told by a company that specializes in open reel decks, that this deck when fully restored can sell for $750, so I'm asking a fair $175 or best offer in the ballpark.
PM with questions/offers.
Thanks,
Jim
