CASTANET Project Update

I built a proto and got it sounding really good.  More info at blog.  The breadboard looks like this:

The design came together really well, voltages, frequency response, output impedance, nearly everything ended up pretty close to what I had calculated.  Hum is audible, so it will need an extra LC stage of filtering in the supply (not totally unexpected).  Frequency response was flat from about 25Hz to 100kHz, superb transient response.

It's a headphone amp.  Seven chunks of iron and a tube.

Looks interesting.  Is it six or seven pieces of iron?  I only see six in the pic.

I have a vision in my head of design/layout options that would give a more high-end aesthetic you mentioned looking for.

It sounds like from the blog that you're shooting for Nov for kits.  Will you be at the RMAF this year?  If so, any chance you'll have a demo one ready for the show?

Seven.  The photo doesn't show the 2nd choke in the power supply.  I love chokes.

No.  Can't afford to hire a room every year.  It takes about six grand out of pocket.  Thinking about VSAC08, though.

I hear ya - shows aren't cheap and I expect coming from the islands means even more time and $$.
