New Legacy speaker designs: ribbons

Legacy Audio has redesigned their mains such as Whisper, Focus etc., going with new ribbon tweeters and mids. Fewer drivers and new cabinet designs. The Focus HD and Classis HD both look intriguing. Fancy new prices as well. http://www.legacy-audio.com/focusmain.html

I have Focus  2020, they are mighty beasts. Can't imagine how they could be improved, but I am still not decided if the hexacone mids are totally transparent, especially at high volumes at 1-2k. I think my acoustics might be the culprit. I assume carbon mids will be even less resonant, although I have no idea how that works and I assume, the old drivers were pretty well specified for their job. When you rub your finger on the hexacones, you can hear the natural tone of the resonance. I can't imagine that happening with the carbon.

The 2020 has two different bass drivers. The mid bass goes up to 250 and the low bass only to 80, but different drivers. Looks like the two on the Focus HD are identical.

Bill told me about 2 months ago that they are waiting for the new woofers for Whisper HD to arrive. Should be up and running by now.

I'm looking forward to hearing them at some point. I wish they would come to RMAF!
