OB designs

I am trying to learn if the following is axiomatic for open baffle designs:

1) Open baffle speaker design A works well for highly efficient 8 inch speaker drivers D and E
2) Highly efficient 8 inch speaker driver F works well in Open baffle speaker design B.
3) Therefore Open baffle speaker design A will work well with speaker driver F also.

I am trying to make the case that for open baffle speaker systems, the mathematics that you have to apply in order to design the cabinet for closed or ported systems and which is based on the properties of the driver to be used may be skipped due to the nature of open baffle systems.

Or to put it another way, are drivers and baffles more or less interchangeable? Can a good OB driver be placed in any known good baffle design with good results.

What do you think?

For a pure un eq'd system the math is way simpler than a box, but driver parameters must be corelated to the baffle design.

With OB, driver Qts becomes a very important factor. How well, and how low it will play on a given driver. With any Q > .6, the driver ~should work well. The B200 is .7, which some argue, is ideal. That driver, on a 42 X 27 baffle, offset mount, you will achieve sonic success.
