I second Gemm, especially if you are looking for that rare LP.  I have purchased bundles of rare, European press or Argentinian pressed LPs from sellers as far ranging as Italy, Argentina etc...  Never ever had a problem with 99.5% of them.  The prices are competitive and reasonable and there are soooo many sellers.

For CDs, I would go for any one of these Amazon sellers that have high ratings.  Really dirty cheap prices. :thumb:

I do primarily Amazon (big selection) and BMG (acceptable to fill in missing pieces for low $$)

On BMG I average about 5.25 to 6.50 a CD when purchasing including shipping- so thats really cheap.  I do this when they send me email promos for buy 1 full price get 4 for 2.00 ea./ 60% off free shipping/or 1.99 sales.
They are missing a ton of stuff but certainly worth joining.

When I do Amazon I load my cart with both a new and a used copy of each CD I am buying and do the math.  average used ones there for me run 9.00-13. with shipping.  used ones in good condition to me are fine.

and now I clean em once drop on the HD- (back em up) and put the real CD in the library (maybe for the car).  getting rid of the transport and going SB3 is fantastic and now I can focus more on the DAC end of the deal, without major $$ needed on the transport

I will pay 18-25 per CD if I really really want it, and it can't be had for less.

yes I am a cheap skate why waist $$.

I will hit the Cheskys, Telarcs, Mapleshades, JVCs, Analouge Productions and so on occassionally - usually thru Music Direct and the like.  :D

usually not "cheap" but always great value: lp's listed by emil anghel on audiogon. if he grades it "nm", it's "mint" in most people's books, and always below bluebook prices. his selection is eclectic and his taste/knowledge impeccable.  http://cgi.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/search2.pl?seller&Emil_anghel

I like cd connection for cd's, they usually have what I want in stock and ship pretty quickly. Haven't had any problems with them as of yet.

http://www.cdconnection.com/

I've seen on StereoMojo's home page that they have the BMG link for cd's where you get them for $6.99 shipped. Link to SM below, ad is in upper right hand corner.

I use Amazon and Lala mostly.   Lala is basically a CD trading site but then they created a store, and because you need to sign up to become a "member" of lala, they have more club like prices.  Half the time they are cheaper than Amazon and even have the "cheaper than amazon" list to make it easy on you.

If you put in a bunch of wants on lala, then when you go to the store it will ranks the cd's you want from lowest price to highest price, which is pretty useful for picking out the really good deals in your want list.  You can of course trade for CD's too, which I do a lot of to check out music "off the beaten path".

I haven't found any place online to get Lps cheap.  Shipping costs usually wipe out any bargain.  I usually have to make a trip to Record Surplus and Amoeba in L.A., or to the local AmVets thrift.  I have used ebay and gemm.com for Lps when I can't find them at any of those places.

For CDs:

amazon.com (for used CDs)
jpc.de (shipping is a high but flat fee, so load up the cart with those Brilliant Classics boxes.)

Though I haven't bought anything there yet, musicstack.com appears to be a great site, for virtually all formats.

If you are into indie (independent) artists, try cdbaby.com.

Reasonable prices, special deals and one of the best response letters in the business  (you gotta see it to believe it).

They even have samples online.

Happy Listening!
