I was surprised to see on the VR website that both of what I thought to be two of their most popular models have been discontinued, among others. I own a pair of VR1's and I love them. They're a lot of bang for the buck and I know the VR2 was very popular and well regarded speaker. I guess Von S. has decided to market only to the well healed as his entry level speaker is now $5,695.
Excuse me but I have to go do an Agone VR-1 for sale search ...
Great little speaker, you won't regret buying them!

That is too bad..I too have had a pair of VR-1s and at one point considered the VR-2s as my mains. However, the larger ones, VR-4s and so forth, I think have an problem in integration of the bass...it seems, IMHO, that they are too bassy/boomy, lacking some details...That is too bad about the affordable models, but I think in this market, it may not be such a great move, seeing how the market is becoming more digitalized with small compact speakers...

I have owned a pair of VR-4jr's for 3 years and have had ZERO bass integration problems. Most speakers can have bass problems due to the room they are in. I had some bass issues in my condo livingroom. That was causing bigger issues with detail in the upper feq. Not until I purchased the Rives PARC did I know the true potential of these speakers!! Bass tighten up and the detail is simply amazing. Don't blame the speaker, blame the room. Also, do you own a pair of VR-4jr's??? Or are you just making another comment without knowledge!!
