Question on dCS Purcell
« on: 7 Jul 2007, 02:42 pm »
I am getting conflicting information from different sellers on this unit.
Can dCS Purcell take PCM 16/44.1 signal on one of its digital input interfaces, such as SPDIF, upsample it to DSD, and pass DSD over IEEE1394 interface to dCS Delius for conversion?
I was told it is not possible, that dCS Purcell cannot upsample PCM to DSD, and the only way to deliver DSD signal to dCS Delius DAC is to have dCS transport with IEEE1394 in the chain.
Is this correct, and dCS Purcell cannot upsample PCM to DSD?

Yes and no. First generation Purcells did not upsample to DSD. Later generation Purcell's did if they were ordered with the DSD option. All Purcells without DSD can be retro-fitted with the DSD option.
