Just wondering what people's experiences are with bypass caps.  I have a small stockpile here, getting ready to start giving them a run, is there anything else I should add to my list?  Right now I have some Sonicap Platinums, Mundorf Supreme Silver/Oil, Clarity Cap SA, AudioCap PCU, V-Cap Teflon, and some Auricaps.

I'll post what I hear (or what I think I hear ) once I get going on it, but I have a feeling it could be hard to come to any firm conclusions.

I did experiment once with bypass caps to my Renaissance II DAC by using Vit.Q 0.1uF/1000V and will try to use Mundorf Silver/Oil 0.1uF/850V to 1200V to bypass the output caps Panasonic 22uF/100V in my Promitheus DAC.

Turbo, you have a fine collection there.  I'd add the MultiCap RTX ('styrene).  You do understand that all of these shound be broken in for dozens (or, in the case of the 2 Teflons, hundreds) of hours before they sound the way they will in use?

Ouch, well good thing I listen to about 8-10 hours of music a day

Guess I'll give them all time to break in before I start paying any attention to how they sound.

Maybe add in the sonicap gen II to compare it to the platinum et al.

I have tried a lot of different caps as by-pass caps. Hands down the best bang for the buck is the .1uF Gen.2 Sonicap in 200 VDC. These are only $2.70 each. All of my standard A/V series kits come with these, great results for nearly no money spent.

The end all be all that I have found is the Sonicap Platinum, but for some speaker applications they are a bit pricey for the application. Still I use them on any all out design.

If I can find any that I like better I'd not only buy them and use them but try to become a dealer for them.

I tried ordering some of the new caps from Mod Wright but was unsuccessful. I have been trying to get Dan to send me some for about two months. I am not sure what the deal is there.

I ordered some Teflon V-caps once and sent a check in for them, but Chris sent me my check back instead.  I have no first hand experience with them but I have heard good things about them. I have had three V-cap users prefer and switch to Sonicap Platinums though.

Again be sure to burn them in for a while. The Teflon based caps do tend to take a long time.

What about the Vishay mkp 1837 .01 uf caps that Tony Gee raves about? Has anyone here had experience with them? They are dirt cheap and if they do what Tony says, I'd like to try them. He even comments that paired with gen. 1 Sonicaps there is a notcable improved sound in x-over applications. Problem is, I'm having a very hard time finding a place to buy them.
