I have no experience with MegaChangers until now.

It's a Sony CX450 that holds 400 discs.
It was given to me free since it skips. So when/if I get it fixed, I'll let you know.
When it decides to work properly it sounds great but often it gets in "a mood".

Slim Devices Squeezebox or Transporter. Not quite the same as you are implying, but essentially offers you what you are hoping to achieve.

Tube Research Labs Modded Sony 595 and 2000 CD Changer (5 CD Changer) is an audiophile grade CD change - albeit with on 5 CD at a time. I owned TRL modded Sony 2000 until I moved to TRL modded Sony NV900. The mods are $750 or so for most stuff.

I have a 300 CD unit in my HT set up.  I use digital out to DAC on my pre/pro.  I did not care for the analog out sound even on my midfi HT set up.  My wife uses it as a jukebox for background music.  It works for that although there is a lot of whirling and turning noise in between CDs.

If you can find one, the Denon DCM-5001 (and DCM-5000 add ons) use the same DACs as the DCD-1650AR.  These are some seriously well-constructed changers, and even can play multiple (two) CD's at once per unit.  I'd love to stash my entire collection in a set of 'em.

Ideally a Squeezebox is the perfect solution. Until then, I'll suffer through the 400 disc CDP and/or Windows MCE and an XBox360 for the tunes.

True, it does have a lot of buzzing, clicking, and humming between Cd's, but it's as quiet as the rest of them during playback. I do use it for background music as well. It's also good for "rediscovering" your collection of music. I've loaded a handful of discs in it that I thought I'd never listen to again. Cd's that I haven't listened to in ten or more years. Some discs, it's been twenty years since I've heard. When my rig is; FLAC and Squeezebox capable, I now have more discs that I'll save and load on the PC. These are Cd's that were destined for the resale shop. So in one way, the Mega-Changer has helped expand my future collection by helping me remember what I use to like that I'd forgotten about.
