Modify an Audyssey?

Steve, do you think it would be difficult to modify one of the Audyssey standalone processors to accept digital inputs and outputs?

Im going to go out on a limb here and guess that it would not be easy enough to warrant the cost and effort involved. You would have to basically add decoders for any sound format you wanted it to be able to process (DD, DTS, TrueHD, DTSHD, etc....) and DACs to feed the Audyssey stuff. What would the benefit of having digital inputs/outputs on it anyway? Its designed to insert easily between pre/pro and amplifier. Just curious. I am really impressed with Audyssey and what it does when used correctly. It really does what it claims and does it well.

If it uses standard A/D and D/A converters and has I2S internally, then digital inputs could be brought out as well as digital outputs.  Whether or not I could do this is another thing altogether.  I simple dont have time to take on any new custom mods anymore.  I have eliminated most of my past mods already.  I am trying to transition to my own products and eliminate most of the mods so that I dont have 4-5 month lead-times.  I am not doing my customers any favors with these long lead-times.
