Mapleshade Isoblocks - Alternative Suppliers?
« on: 30 May 2007, 12:50 am »
Hey guys

I remember reading about companies that supply the rubber / cork / rubber isolation devices to be used with noisy equipment.  Does anyone have any links?  I bought some of the Mapleshade Isoblocks in the past...and would like to try a less pricey alternative if possible.

Thanks!
Jim

Hi Jim,
IIRC, the isoblocks are "very" nearly the same as HVAC vibration damping pads that can be found on the web. If I had more time I'd look for you, as I've found them before and they looked and had exactly the same dimensions as the Mapleshade blocks. I'm not saying that the isoblocks are the same, but from the pictures I couldn't tell them apart. BTW: those expensive ceramic cable elevators that are absolutely indispensable? They can be found on the web as well for a "lot" less and if the Pic's and everything is accurate they're virtually identical.

If you find them, let us know, the savings are substantial.

Best Regards,
TerryO

I'm pretty sure the exact same things can be purchased at hardware stores, but try & get the exact replica's..these things are not made equal.  i've seen 6 difft kinds since trying to find generic ones.

Similar pucks can be purchased from www.soundproofing.org, be sure to cut them down to Isoblock dimensions.

Anyone have an idea of what the glue inbetween the 2 separate pucks is?   i pulled apart an actual isoblock & would like to get it glued back together.  the stock glue is really gummy, non-hardening.

I got mine from "RCreations" on audiogon.  Here is his posting below.  Tom

Looks like contact cement to me - the stuff that comes in brown bottles with an applicator in the cap. Duco is one one brand.
