I ordered an SP2 but till it's here I have a loaner, a SP1.7.

When I switch from input to another input I always put the volume down to zero, so there is no sound coming unexpected through my loudspeakers. But with this SP1.7 when I put the volume to zero and I switch to another input there is coming a very loud sound through the speakers. Now is my question: is this normal? I expect no loud sound through my speakers when I switch from one source to another source.

This does not sound normal! From my experience, when I switch from one source to another with some volume gain, at the very most I hear a "tick" sound. I have been told this is normal because different sources will have varying voltages. It also depends on the preamp circuitry.

Even though the volume is zero, unless you have a hard mute, there could still be residual sound coming from the source selector.

I agree, it is not normal.  The loaner sounded like it needs to go back for a checkup.

You probably have an early version of the firmware that had issues?  What software version is it?

How and where can I see which firmware this one have?

Levi

You can see the firmware version as soon as you turn the unit on.  You mentioned it's a loaner so I wouldn't worry about it.

The software version is "V44D1".

All you need to do now is wait for your SP2 and the switching noise will disappear. :thumb:
