Look excellent!

Might want to display the Dimensions of the units for people building cabinets!

200 watts X 2?

I thought these were monoblocks?

wshuff,

Yes, they are monoblocks.  I'd bet Mr. Barnes just got used to thinking of them in pairs.

Off topic:  I didn't know there were any audiophiles in Harlan, KY.  There's not much up there but coal miners and truckers.  What kind of work do you do?  I occasionally recruit in the Harlan area for miners.  Maybe next time I'm up that way, you can show me your system.   8)

Cheers,

Mr Barnes,
How about at 4Ohms? What is the power rating? Does it double to 400W RMS?
Thanks,
Andreas

MB, I am more concerned on sonic signature/quality than the power.

If any one have any experience, please share us.

I'm not Mr. Barnes, but this is clipped from the July News on the nOrh site:

Quote
We have tested Le Amp II at 200 watts RMS into 8 ohms with .05% THD, 400 watts RMS into 4 ohms and 800 watts into 2 ohms. We are now claiming that Le Amp II is a 180 wpc amplifier. The actual rating will depend on the operating temperature once we have our custom heat sinks finished.

Hope that helps.  In the current news, Mr. Barnes is claiming comfort with a 200 watt RMS rating now that testing is complete.  I would hope that the 400 at 4 Ohms would still hold solid.

Thanks John,
that really helps. The 400W at 4ohms rating is quite impressive, I'm very excited. I can't wait for my three amps to ship!

The LA2 looks interesting. Power/Price ratio definitely huge. I wonder though (looking at the pics at the Norh site) how come the backlit screen display is on when the power siwtch is actually at the off position? Is this a Photoshop job and if so what does the backlit screen *really* look like?

I have been very busy and unable to get to this website.

The power supply is an 800 V/A power supply. They have tuned it down to 500 V/A continous with support to 800 V/A peak.

The amp will support 400 watts into 2 ohms and 500 watts into 2 ohms.
The first 10 went out but we missed getting another 20 out this week. I am told that we will have 30 next week.

Why the delay?

We had a cusotmer write me. He noticed that the Blue LCD screen was printted 200 watts RMS.  He told us that it should be Watts after James Watts.
Woops....

We had 200 of these lenses made up but I decided we had better rescreen.

We got 10 of them done for samples for us to approve to do the full production.

If anyone prefers watts to Watts, we can do a speical order.

"-The amp will support 400 watts into 2 ohms and 500 watts into 2 ohms.-"

You meant 400 watts into 4 ohms right?

Actually you meant 400 Watts into 4 Ohms right? hehe

Hey, I don't care about w or W. I'd be up for getting a "speical order."

Do you mean 'special offer' as in better than the intro price or just getting the amps now as opposed to waiting for new screens printed up?

I'd like to get my two Le Amp's ASAP so either 'or both 'special' deal would be good to me.

Should I PM you w/ my order # or what?

P.S.- maybe you shoulda just used a blue LED like I suggested! hehe.
KIDDING. hehe

I would seriously be SO up to my eyeballs by now with the wait.  I've been following this saga with great intrest since early March when I was torn between going with the LE2 or the Odyssey Stratos.  This makes me all the more happy that I decided to go with the Stratos, which according to Mr. Barnes at the time would take LONGER than the Le Amp II to get built.  That was the mid/end of March and almost noone still has them and isn't going to until September  :o

You may end up with one hell of an amp for the money but if it ends up not being sonically as good as everyone is hoping...

Let me ask you a question, if you were an amp manufacturer/distributer, and your customers were already pissed off at you, for letting them wait for several months after they made their order, would you have dared to let them wait two more weeks, just in order to fix "watts" to "Watts" ?.

If Michael didn't think he had an astounding sounding amp, he would have never allowed himself to delay the shipping again, for such an insignificant purpose.

On the other hand, if you thought that you had a truly high class amp in your hands, I'm sure you would have taken all measures to insure nothing is going to hurt it, insignificantly as it might be, from being the new unchallenged king of its kind.

I was merely commenting on my own situation.  I don't own an electronics company so I can't comment on the rest, especially since you brought up arguments on both sides of the equation.

But, regardless of the product if you spend the amount of time developing and bringing to market and had a high amount of anticipation for your product IF it turned out to be a dog could you seriously eat that and NOT release it?

I'm sure the LE2 will turn out to be successful for Michael and hope it does in fact.  But I'd be rather hacked about 6 months worth of waiting.

You should have seen it coming.... "those who don't remember their history blah blah ...."

This is extremely average nOrh performance schedule-wise.
