I agree with most of the reviews out there.
The zombie flick is fun with lots of humor.
The fake trailers separating the two movies are hilarious!
The first 1/3 of the car movie is very slow with lots of stylized dialog, but the ending makes it pay off.
If you have to take a bathroom break in the theater, do it at the start of the 2nd movie so you don't miss the fake trailers.
Lots of great cameos throughout, intersecting characters, and funny theatrical effects.
All in all, a lot of fun.
Don't see this if you are squeamish or easily offended.

"The term "grindhouse" refers to a specific type of '60s and '70s exploitation film: the sex-and-gore soaked fare that played in run-down urban cinemas and drive-in theaters. With their consistently poor production values and often horrifically bad direction and acting, grindhouse movies developed a cult following that reveled in such guilty pleasures and accepted them for what they were." .... aa

I have seen the trailer... the whole thing seemed to me to be very... I dunno, contrived. But, maybe jake's post has convinced me otherwise.

I really disliked the trailer, but now I am intrigued and the reviews have been pretty darn positive.  I guess I'll check it out alone because my better half will probably hate it.

This looks like a combination of Pulp Fiction and Sin City (which I think the other director beside Tarantino did). It is like an homage to those grindhouse movies and has probably more of a comic book/cartoon sensibility.

GrindHouse was a lot of fun. It would kick ass to see more directors taking themselves less serious, collaborating together trying something out of the ordinary like this.
It's sad that the movie didn't do so well opening weekend. More people should step-up to support when something different comes along. Of course it is pretty niche so maybe thats why it didn't do so well.

I need to see this.  I have to support the directors for taking a chance, even if it looked a bit ridiculous in the trailer.

Caught this movie yesterday at cinemark.

I hated the first movie about zombies. I have always strongly disliked horror movie which aim to gross out the public rather than scare them. And this did exactly that. Maybe that was directors intention. To make a really really bad 70s horror movie. If so, i think he has suceeded several fold.

But the second movie, Death Proof, more than makes up for the first one. It was awesome. The car chase sequence has to the best one that i've ever seen.  :thumb: :thumb:

Agreed...the first movie had a few funny parts....but Death Proof was better.
Having said that....I will not even consider purchasing this on optical.
